Choose a card for their favorite store
If the recipient loves baking, give them a gift card for Sur La Table®. Are they in need of a new coat? Then give them a gift card that can be used at Nordstrom. It doesn’t matter if the amount covers exactly how much they need to buy something; they will appreciate the gesture.
Pick a unique way to present it
It always feels nice to open a gift that’s inside another gift. So, consider inserting the gift card into a small wallet or choose a nice wrapping method like putting it inside a candy jar or turning it into a wreath or a tree.
Include a suggestions page
Help the recipient make a decision about what they can spend the gift card on. You can print out a list of things you think they’ll love and expand on it with a blurb. Doing this will get them excited about your present, and you’re not making the decision for them, so they don’t have to be bothered about returning or exchanging the item.
Make a gift basket
Arrange the gift card alongside some other gifts that complement it. For example, if you bought the receiver a gift card to the movies, assemble it along with candy and popcorn. If your card is related to a spa service, present it with comfy slippers and a facemask.
Write a warm note
A gift is more about the thought than what’s presented. So, even if you don’t have the money or time to pack the gift with something else, write a heartfelt note.
