Sell the gift card to a gift card reseller: There are a number of gift card reseller websites out there that will purchase your gift card from you and give you cash in exchange. Some of these websites even pay for prepaid postage so you can mail your gift card to them. If you have an e-gift card, many websites will buy it off you immediately. However, we suggest you look up reviews for the website before you commit to selling them your gift card. Also, keep in mind that you will likely not be paid the full value for your gift card.
Put up your gift card for sale on an e-commerce website: If you can’t sell your gift to a gift card reseller, you can list it on e-commerce websites like Craigslist and eBay. The best part is that you may even be able to sell it for the same price it is valued at. Keep in mind that websites like eBay will take a percentage of the sale amount. Make sure to also account for shipping costs.
Sell the gift card to a family member or friend: Although you don’t have any use for a gift card you have on hand, it’s likely you’ll find someone in your family, school, or local church who wouldn’t mind buying the gift card from you. Ask around and check if anyone you know would be interested in buying your gift card.
Even if you aren’t able to sell your gift card, you may be able to trade it for a gift card from another store. You may be able to do this online, or by visiting gift card resellers. This isn’t the same as getting cash, but if you need to buy things from another store, getting a gift card for the store will work just as well.
