There are two types of gift cards that qualify as printable gift cards. The first is a print-on-demand card that is custom-made and professionally printed and then shipped to the recipient’s mailing address. While it looks great, it takes time to create, print, and then ship these cards.
The second is an electronic gift card that you can print at home on paper. You can get this type of gift card almost instantly. Here’s how you can create both types of gift cards.
Option 1: Creating custom plastic gift cards
These gift cards are usually printed on-demand. Unlike gift cards that you find at stores, these gift cards are printed only when a person orders them. When you opt for such a gift card, you can choose the image you want to add, pick a suitable dollar amount, and even add an embossed message. Although there are many personalized store-brand plastic gift card options available, printable Mastercard and Visa gift cards are extremely popular.
Option 2: Printing an e-gift card at home
Although most companies offer their e-gift cards via text, email, or social media, some businesses allow you to print their e-gift card at home. Many people prefer this option because it allows them to buy an e-gift card but still deliver it to their intended recipient, in person.
To be honest, pretty much all gift cards can be printed at home - the only problem is that they don’t really look like gift cards. But, of course, if you dress it up and put it in a nice envelope or personally deliver it with homemade treats, it could make a great gift.
